"They are an internationally acclaimed rock band with album sales in excess of 10 million proving they are one of Britain's most successful bands." Kerrang

Placebo have a penchant for androgynous attire and make-up, as well as a love of raw, punky guitar riffs. At the start of their 17-year career they were initially described as a glam rock act, however as the band’s career developed they took on ever-more diverse elements and influences from bands such as Sonic Youth, The Cure, Pixies, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana to name just a few. Critical descriptions have ranged from ‘goth-rock’ to ‘Britpop’ to ‘post-punk revival electronic rock’. Over the years Placebo have enjoyed a fruitful relationship with David Bowie, who has also influenced their sound and appeared on multiple records.

To date, Placebo have released seven studio albums, all of which have reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom. Placebo released Loud Like Love, their most recent album, in September this year.  The album marks Placebo as a band big on heart-scarred intimacy as well as anthemic pop hooks. From its surging title track and the Jim Steinman-influenced Too Many Friends, to Bosco’s desolate lyricism, the band’s seventh album feels like a slow-burning addition to their 12 million-selling back catalogue. Gone are the waspish, immediate guitar rushes that defined the early salvos of Placebo’s 17-year career. In their place stand a collection of intimate, honest, and emotionally challenging songs that grow stronger with repeated plays.
